Scary Dog Chase: 4K video of me being chased on my bike by a scary dog!
In this heart-racing video, I found myself in a spine-chilling scenario as a menacing dog surprised me during my bike ride! I never imagined encountering such a terrifying situation. As the adrenaline kicked in, I tried my best to pedal away from this scary dog - but the dog can run fast!. Caught on camera with my GoPro camera.
FYI: I am a dog owner myself - and not usually scared of dogs. However, I didn't expect this dog to run so close to my bike - which made me wonder what it's intentions were.
If you know what breed this dog was, please comment!

you handled this encounter well ...and not saying anything to the person was smart move in my opinion ...No drama ...Is best way to handle situations... more so once the drama of been chased by dogs resulted in no real drama .....That best everyone can ask for in that situation ...as for guy with dog off lead i think if is a considerate person who made mistake they will learned the lesson from this anyways .....if it inconsiderate person who dont care well then they never going to learn even if it pointed out to them.. "No Drama" is a cyclists best and only friend ...That and "I cant hear you i got headphones on"

Good work there! I did this two years ago on my Brompton and had to walk most of The Hill... I'm going again this year, and thinking my options are to get fitter/stronger, or fit a smaller chain ring. Or both. I suppose the smaller gear will sacrifice top speed, but then again how often on the ride will I be spinning out?

Total time can vary year by year - mostly depending on factors such as road traffic to get out of London, bike jams and weather. Last year was great for me - as I had the early start time - plus there was a gentle northerly breeze to blow us all the way to Brighton. This meant fewer unplanned stops (in hold ups) - so I did do a few other quick stops - including to change batteries in the chest mounted GoPro. Bottom line, I would estimate circa 1 hour - for wee and battery breaks. I didn’t stop for food or drink- as I carried my own. I do always stop for circa 10 minutes before Ditchling Beacon to get my head in the right place. I hope that helps. Good luck on the ride!

done both and did ditchling first time yesterday. leith is pretty difficult, but not as long, so you can get it done. ditchling is long. 1.4 miles, and my garmin was showing 12% and 14% regularly, the easing off is still about 8%, so ditchling is more difficult unless you have the cardio to go on for that length of ride.
